C.H.E.R.S., The Creole Heritage Education and Research Society was formed in 2002 by a group of online researchers to create an interest in the genealogies and family ties of the Creole people with a special emphasis on the rich history of the Gens De Couleur of Louisiana.
Since it's inception, the members of The Creole Heritage Education Research Society have held 2 conferences in New Orleans which have included:
- Sharing of Creole Genelogy Information
- Research in New Orleans research facilities
- Speakers on the history and culture of Louisiana Creoles
- Tours of New Orleans Creole Areas
- Dining in Creole restaurants
