Friday morning, on July 22, at 9 AM, the LDS library, at 112 Rue Esplande, Slidell. is opening for us and will teach us how to use their services. Someone from their staff will be on hand, to informally, give us a lecture.
Friday night, 7/22, at 6:30 PM we will meet at 'Le Citron Bistro' for our annual meeting. Dinner will be served promptly at 7:30 PM. The address is 1539 Religious, New Orleans. The directions can be found on their website www.lecitronbistro.com We will be in the Genealogy Room. At our meeting we will vote on our new officers and bylaws plus take care of any other new or old business. Member t-shirts will be distributed at this time. Please come prepared to pay $25, in cash, for your dinner. We will be ordering from a specially prepared menu.
Saturday, 7-23, there will be a picnic with 'Creole Sans Limites', a Creole language group. Everyone is asked to bring their families and own food. Entertainment and music will be provided. We are also asking the members to wear their t-shirts to the picnic. The picnic will be at 'Fountainbleau State Park' located at 67825 Highway 190, Mandeville, (985) 624-4443, from 9 A.M. until dusk.
Sunday, 7-24, we will be attending the 11:30 mass at St. Peter Claver Church in New Orleans, 1923 St. Philip St., New Orleans, (504) 822-8059, which played a prominent part in our history. Immediately following the mass there will be a celebration in St. Peter Claver's Auditorium, 1020 N. Prieur. We will be honoring several past or present members of the church. We want to celebrate our heritage and the institutions that helped us form and retain it. There will also be a Creole play put on for us by 'Sans Limites', food and drink will be available. Tickets for this affair can be gotten from members Naurine White, Melvin White, Marlene Darensbourg or at the door.
